Laura Magid Mawer

Laura is a Jewish believer in Yeshua. She loves to laugh, sing, and hang out with friends. Children are dear to her heart, and she has enjoyed being a mentor and friend to many young people over the years. Laura especially loves worshiping the King of Kings. Sometimes she wants to shout from the rooftops that Jesus is Lord. She’s been studying His Word for over twenty years. Her passion is telling others about the Jewishness of Jesus and how the Hebrew Scriptures and the New Covenant Scriptures (commonly called the Old and New Testaments) are inseparable.

When hired for her first teaching job, Laura felt it was better than winning the lottery; being a teacher had been her lifetime dream. Laura has also worked as an editor and writer of reading-instruction materials at Scott Foresman Publishing.

Laura and her husband attend a Messianic congregation where she has served in its education ministry since 1997. She holds a B.Sc. degree in elementary education from UW-Madison and an M.A. degree in interdisciplinary arts education from Columbia College in Chicago.

Laura’s maiden name Magid is Hebrew, pronounced MAH-geed, with a hard g, and spelled מַגִּיד. There are various nuances to the meaning of מַגִּיד, but it always refers to a person with a story to tell. In the old country, the מַגִּיד went from town to town sharing stories and sharing current news. So, as someone who loves to tell a good story and whose passion it is to share the good news about Messiah, Laura has chosen to include Magid in her professional name.
